CDF之声|福特汽车集团总裁、CEO龙世德：可持续转型势在必行

Firstly， I would like to sincerely congratulate China and Chinese athletes on the successful hosting of the 2022 Winter Olympics and their impressive performance． This year’s CDF once again brought all parties together to discuss topics of common interest and concern． It is particularly important in face of the current political and economic landscape． It also demonstrates China‘s role as the world’s 2nd largest economy in global sustainable development．

At the same time， I am honored to have joined this grand gathering for the 7th consecutive year where I exchange views and ideas for a better Shared Future with the business leaders from around the world． I am glad to see that Volvo Group’s sustainability strategy is well in line with this shared goal and I believe it’s a journey that can only be done through Rebuilding Consensus on Development and Cooperation which is also the theme of this year’s CDF．

The year 2022 marks the 30 years’ anniversary of our operation in China． Since the establishment of our first representative office in Beijing in 1992 we have witnessed and contributed to the transformations China has been through over the past three decades． Looking back at this journey we observe that the Chinese government has been putting solid efforts on the standard and quality of reform and opening-up． We are impressed by the achievements while being truly grateful to have been part of it． And I often recall my many travels and meetings in different parts of China with business partners， with customers and suppliers and of course also with colleagues and academia where we have discussed how we can cooperate and develop things together．

I’m also happy that I had the time to experience culture and of course the food and just changing ideas together and I’m excited to see all the progress China achieved by the determination to drive development and cooperation． With all the achievements and continuously improving business environment， China has been and remains an attractive destination for foreign direct investment and we also achieved a major milestone –Volvo Trucks signed an agreement about the acquisition of a local production facility in Shanxi province all of which was made possible by the removal of foreign equity cap in commercial vehicle manufacturers．

Looking into the future， we all know that China is shifting to pursue a high-quality development model and a greener， more balanced and innovation-driven economy． For Volvo Group， we also believe the transformation into a sustainable transport， logistics and infrastructure system has started． It will accelerate and create great opportunities in connectivity， automation， electrification and new energy systems． As a leading force driving this transformation globally， we have strong confidence to collaborate with our Chinese partners and customers to capture these opportunities and achieve their goals both in decarbonization and business development．

Building on 30 years of deep-rooted development and collaboration， China has become one of the few markets where multiple Volvo Group business areas present． Recently， we’ve relocated a number of APAC headquarters to China and have successful joint ventures with SDLG and Dongfeng Commercial Vehicles． In addition to that， we’ve been actively engaged with the society for example， initiating a sustainability seminar near a Panda rehabilitation area in Si’Chuan last year， and continuously deepening our engagements with elementary schools in less-developed areas．

Before I end， I sincerely hope that dialogues in this high-level platform will generate more concrete and positive influence to support the collaboration and development in our industry． We look forward to co-creating a more sustainable transport system that makes societies prosper and builds a world that we want to live in． I wish this year’s CDF a great success．
